An YoYo story from

Iris

Studying English has been my dream major since I was in high school. Unfortunately, I failed to pursue it. To fulfill family obligations, I had a short-lived job teaching liberal arts in Taiwan and a long career in technology field overseas. English has been just a tool to me. It is a tool that you cannot do without, but it’s not a tool that you can solely depend on. Simply put, even you speak perfect English overseas, you are no better than any native English-speaking person, and that would not get you far in your career. On the contrary, all the other qualities, such as your logical thinking, problem-solving skills, creativity and many other traits put you in a more competitive position. Your value is a total package and language is only a small part of it.
Working in a high demanding field was both stressful and rewarding. Retirement finally came, and it was both worrisome and exciting, because I needed to fill the void and I decided to pick up something that I left when I was younger. YoYo English Club fulfills my dream in many ways. The meetings, discussions and friendships feed my soul, and the fun gatherings, including hiking, biking, even eating and drinking rejuvenate my body! 😊 I enjoy and treasure the company of YoYo in this stage of my life and I value everyone by their total package as how I was appreciated when I was working.

An YoYo story from

Elieen

All these while, I have been longing to find a stage and showcase myself. So, I've signed up for YoYo English club a few months back and got to forged many friendships with the kind and friendly people whom I've met. I really appreciate the opportunity that was given to do the presentation. The amount of fear I experienced initially have subsequently transformed into my source of energy and courage to further improve and brush up on my presentation skills.
In addition, the encouragement I've received from my peers helped me to become more brave and allow me to overcome my fear. It is a huge leap of improvement for me to stand in front of the crowd giving a speech, which I've never imagined. Is this worthwhile? Yes, definitely! Come and join us on every Tuesday (18:45-21:30) for $80, which includes a drink. Do not miss this golden opportunity!!
